For those of us who were very aware of the hole left by Target's absence at Malvern Central shopping centre, there was a big question mark about what the new David Jones would be like. It opened last week - their ambassador Megan Gale gave a speech! - and I'm pleased to report that it's a very dandy store, indeed. In fact, I already purchased a Gregory Ladner clutch for the races, spotted in two seconds flat. It's the first of David Jones' "village format" stores in Victoria, and all I can say is that it's a shopper's paradise, with 350 Australian and international brands available. Megan does very, very well as their brand ambassador, giving a speech with some improv touches, and joking that Lord Mayor Robert Doyle (who also spoke) knew what brand shoes she was wearing just by looking at them. (Although the red soles were a giveaway, for those who know their Louboutins from the Blahniks.
